Week in Action - February 19

 Ms. Kim and Ms. Naomi's class explored Japan. They learned about the flag, clothing and writing. They also learned about the Japanese artist 'Katsushika Hokusai'. 

They studied his art pieced and listened to music from Claude Debussy. Debussy was inspired by Hokusai's art and composed the musical piece called La Mer. This gave the children a chance to hear how the music told the story of the art " The Great Wave".














Ms. Sarita and Ms. Kathy class took a journey with Li, to China. They explored the culture, food and clothing from China. They talked about the Winter Olympics in Beijing, learned the significance of the Olympic Symbol and created their own olympic rings. In Science they explored different kinds of bees and ants - parts of their body- their life cycle - how they are useful to mankind and learned the difference between a grasshopper and a praying mantis. 
They also took advantage of the beautiful afternoons outdoors to create their own masterpiece!













Ms. Andrea and Ms. Cristina's class continued their study of Australia. They took a closer look at the instruments and how they are used during an Aboriginal dance ceremony. 
They also learned about beekeeping and pollination.
